John Wall graduated from Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina. John Wall has made his City of Raleigh proud by being a Franchise Basketball Player for the Washington Wizards for nine years in the National Basketball Association. He. has formed the John Wall Family Foundation and continues to help his community by providing youth basketball, back to school drives, and feeding the homeless throughout the year.

John Wall and his Legacy are a vital part of our community and the entire City of Raleigh as he gives others hope with his generosity.The Legacy Ball Committee and Word of God Christian Academy would like to declare November 2nd John Wall Day.

Open to the public, the John Wall High School Basketball Jersey Retirement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 10 am, in the Word of God Christian Academy Gymnasium. The Proclamation will be Presented from a City or Government Official to John Wall.

John Wall was selected by the Wizards with the first overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft out of the University of Kentucky. He holds career averages of 18.9 points, 9.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game, joining Magic Johnson as the only players to post those averages. The five-time All-Star has helped put the Wizards on the NBA map by leading Washington to four playoff appearances in the last six years. Entering his 10th NBA season – all with the Wizards – Wall, is  the franchise’s all-time leader in assists (5,282) and steals (976). He and his foundation, The John Wall Family Foundation, are also very active within the DC and his hometown of Raleigh, NC communities, recently holding their 6th Annual Backpack Giveaway, where the foundation distributed over 500 backpacks filled with school supplies to K-12 graders.

In January, he provided Giant gift cards to over 100 federal government workers during the shutdown.  And in 2016, the NBA recognized Wall’s philanthropic work by honoring him with the Community Assist Award.  Throughout the years John has gifted the communities of Raleigh with a host of holiday events, for Thanksgiving,Christmas and his John Wall Holiday Invitational basketball tournament.
